1. What this covers
This Cookie Policy applies to our website at sekondbrain.ai and related sites, and to the browser-based surfaces of the Services — Kora, Kanvas, KIT and the Kemory dashboard.
It is the “Cookie Policy” incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service (clauses 1.2 and 13.1) and referred to in section 12 of our Privacy Policy. Where this policy and the Privacy Policy differ on cookies specifically, this policy prevails.
We process personal data collected through cookies in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (“PECR”).
2. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a site stores on your device so it can be read back later. We use the word “cookies” here to cover cookies and the similar technologies that do the same job — including localStorage, sessionStorage and the browser storage APIs the Services use to keep you signed in and remember your settings.
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies survive until they expire or you delete them. First-party cookies are set by us; third-party cookies are set by another organisation whose code runs on the page.
3. Categories we use
| Category | What it does | Consent needed? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Operates the Services: keeping you signed in, maintaining your session, routing requests, load balancing, and security functions such as protecting against cross-site request forgery. The Services do not work without these. | No — exempt under PECR |
| Preference | Remembers choices you have made, such as theme, language and interface settings, so you do not have to set them again. | Yes |
| Analytics | Tells us which features are used and where they fail, so we can fix and improve them. As stated in the Privacy Policy, analytics and telemetry never include the content of your conversations or memories. | Yes |
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell personal data.
4. The cookies we set
The per-cookie inventory — each cookie’s name, provider, purpose and duration — is being compiled from an audit of what our sites actually set at runtime, and will be published here. Until it appears, the categories in section 3 describe what we use, and the controls in section 6 work regardless. If you need the detail before it is published, ask us at privacy@sekondbrain.ai and we will tell you.
| Cookie | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inventory pending audit | Strictly necessary | Authentication, session and security | Pending |
| Inventory pending audit | Preference | Interface and display settings | Pending |
| Inventory pending audit | Analytics | Feature usage and error diagnostics | Pending |
5. Legal basis
Under PECR we may store strictly necessary cookies without your consent, because they are essential to provide the service you have asked for. For every other category we ask for your consent before storing anything, and we rely on that consent under Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR for any personal data the cookie involves.
Consent is not a condition of using the Services. Declining analytics and preference cookies does not restrict your access to anything you have paid for.
6. Your choices
Our cookie banner. When you first visit, you can accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change that choice at any time through the banner or the cookie settings in the product, and withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. Withdrawal takes effect going forward and does not affect processing already carried out lawfully.
Your browser. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, and clearing site data removes what we have stored. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop you signing in and will break parts of the Services.
Other rights. Where a cookie involves personal data, the rights in section 11 of the Privacy Policy apply — access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Contact privacy@sekondbrain.ai.
7. The Kora for Chrome extension
The extension is not a website and does not set advertising or tracking cookies. It stores data locally in your browser — captured conversations, authentication tokens, a per-install API key and your preferences — using the browser’s own storage APIs.
It integrates no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking services, and it does not read cookies set by the websites you visit. What it stores, and how to remove it, is set out in the Kora for Chrome & Kemory privacy policy.
8. Changes and contact
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the cookies we use or in the law. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
